With
over fifty years of railway industry experience the
Directors of DTS founded their business based on a formal
agreement with Semperit AG, Austria, (specialists in the manufacture
of rubber and moulded products) working together to develop
their market share in the UK.
From the outset, with a limited range of products, we have
strategically grown our product range to meet the demand of
our increasing customer base.
Toward the end of 2004 the business had moved to another level
and at this time, the market determined that we form a strategic
partnership with a reputable transport organisation to provide
a bespoke pick and pack operation that enables our orders
to be fulfilled at short notice and to the tightest of deadlines.
By the mid part of 2005, DTS in partnership with Semperit
AG recognised a gap in the market for the manufacture and
supply of Switch and Crossing rail and baseplate pads. With
approved raw material supplied by Semperit, rail and baseplate
pads are accurately water jet cut on CAD/CAM systems in line
with client’s technical drawings.
In 2006 our sales office moved to new premises in Barlborough,
Chesterfield conveniently placed within a quarter of a mile
of the M1 motorway at Junction 30. Around the same time our
transport partner moved to new purpose built warehouse facilities
within 100 metres of our offices, thus strengthening our position
to react to market demand.
By the end of 2006 DTS improved its market position by investing
in additional warehouse space in Doncaster thus enhancing
its growing reputation for service.
In early 2007 DTS signed a support agreement with VAE AG,
Austria to manage and develop the sales of Hot Axle Box Detection,
Hot Wheel Detection, Switch Machines for Light Rail application
and Turnout Condition Monitoring Systems.
In July 2008 DTS signed a 5 year Agreement with Tenconi SA of Switzerland to support the sales of their range of Dry Encapsulated ‘Benkler Joints’ into the UK. Tenconi are a high quality manufacturer and supplier of railway products throughout the world and this further enhances DTS’s reputation for aligning itself to quality supply partners.
In August 2008 DTS relocated to its own purpose built warehouse and office facility. This further strengthens DTS’s position in the market and states our intention of continuing to be a key player for years to come.
In 2009, DTS recruited the Technical Services of David Turner to strengthen its technical team and increase the scope for Design, Survey and Technical Support Services to our customers going forward. David joins DTS with 30 years of railway experience and will be a valued addition to the DTS team.
During 2009, we have seen a steady increase in our signalling activities. Contec with the support of DTS have secured major contracts for Light Rail installations at Manchester and Edinburgh. Switch Machines are on trial at various sites across the UK. DTS are optimistic for the growth of this product throughout 2010.
DTS continue to carefully explore opportunities for
quality and innovative suppliers of Rail Track Products in
order to compliment the existing range.
